SPECIAL RADIO :: ÑÏÅÖ ÈÍÒÅÐÍÅÒ ÐÀÄÈÎ :: Advice to musicians
Advice to musicians

One bit of advice that caused a lasting impression was: It is better not to begin. If your son has taken to the guitar then you had better break his fingers at once. 90 percent of the time it leads to nothing, and in worse cases it leads to a very sad situation. But if someone is really keen then let them persist, because for success in this field a lot of work is required. It is easier to labour with a shovel, strange as it may seem, because it is much easier both physically and morally. Because in this show business, so to speak, besides the fact that you should be able to play the guitar, you should still have a mass of other qualities that you realise on your own. Mityi had to be taught how to do sound producing, for example. But before that he was a mechanic and a taxi driver. Also in relation to music, it is necessary to have sound knowledge, to enable you to talk about it. If you are a triply remarkable guitarist or keyboardist, but as a matter of fact you are a brute, then you will not work well together with people and you will wander from group to group unable to settle down anywhere.
“Black Obelisk” Band

Here are the main principles that should be observed by a person who has decided to make music; this would be desirable for them to do. First, you need a careful attitude towards the music that the musician will perform. Secondly, if the musician or group wants to become professional, I would immediately begin to think of how to perform not only in clubs but also in concert halls. This is very important. A club is all very well, but in my opinion, musicians should also perform in concert halls and at festivals, etc.
Sergey Shurakov (Vermicelli Orchestra)

A modern Russian musician, who wants to make music that is pleasant to him, should simply make music that is pleasant to him, and this is the major principle that he should observe. And we can only wish to all musicians that if they take the opportunity to perform in this way then all will be well.
Artyom Tamazov (Vermicelli Orchestra)

The main thing is to do what you like to do, and then this will be fair. And, also very important is that the process of creativity does not desist. Don’t stop, no matter what!
Lena Tay

In my opinion, health is the most important thing in life, and, well, very important, of course, to have one’s place in life, to be able to discover yourself.
Max Raabe

Firstly, a person should answer a question for himself: for what purpose and for whom is he going to make music. The second question that he should put to himself is: what does he want to get from the music? Does he want to make money, does he want to sing for friends or does he want to work in clubs? And furthermore, having answered these questions, what else is desired of you? I answer this question for myself quite simply. I am a professional and while I am a professional I should earn money from my music. And if I am to treat myself well then I should compose qualitative music, i.e. qualitative sound, lyrics and melodies, and it should be bought. It is difficult to give advice without the answers to these questions on what the musician himself wants from the music. If he wants that uncle producer buy his music then that is another issue. He can create something on the guitar and then uncle producer will give him money, but he will say specifically how and what to play and so you can forget about any creative activity. And thus he is nothing. We are different. We are a team, we produce for ourselves, though we would like with pleasure to get for ourselves a cool uncle as a patron who will help us to surf the wave of this idiotic show business. Its like so, brother.
Valery Naumov (Tsarevich Ivan band)

A musician should never play music that he listens to. The idea is banal and simple. You will always be a step behind. If you listen to Slipknot today, then you should compose music with a view to making it different and better, because Slipknot won’t remain at the same position.
Vadim Timoshenko (Tsarevich Ivan band)

First of all, a lot of recording. Their rehearsal should be recorded straight from the console, make working notes, and to cut it short, listen to yourself a lot. Now people don’t listen to themselves, that’s why they make a lot of mistakes. Secondly – to learn sound producing. As a rule, everything, even a high paid or well-paid sound producer is not professional enough. You should record yourself more, listen to yourself more, and work at self-improvement under your own artefact. It not as simple as just playing and that’s it, but that this product will be like a loaf of bread. Your music is a loaf of bread and you see for yourself that here it’s bitter, and there it’s a little bit over salted, and you know all these things, you of course go further – and this is most important. And young people don’t like this and I understand it judging by one festival. To play, to enjoy yourself at concerts and records, oooo, fooo, nooo – money! Which money? Record from console and that’s it. There is high-quality recording from the console, even as in the studio. Besides, in my time I gave advice to the group “Rada and Blackthorn” to make their album on the basis of old recording. The album was much better than singles that they have because there everything is more alive and natural. Because these things are so delicate. Here for the young people: More recording and listening to yourself.
Sergey Zharikov (Group DK)

Don’t piss it up before a performance, … that is to say “Don’t call Ichtyandr”)))). Less shit …
Vladimir Kolpakov (Beavers group)

It is necessary that young musicians define themselves, as they want to. Money, glory, WHATEVER? It was just such a simple issue, which youth culture hooligans finished me off with when I was young and hairy – Wad da ya need?
Michael Bezymensky (Beavers group)
